The Spadoni College of Education welcomes five new faculty members for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Dr. Kimberly L. Carroll served as the district elementary education coordinator and academic coach for Lee County Schools in Northeastern Mississippi. While serving, Dr. Caroll published two articles, and wrote several grants to fund science labs for elementary schools. Dr. Carroll joins the faculty as a Lecturer in Elementary Education.
Ms. Marcie Ellerbe, a doctoral candidate in Language and Literacy at the University of South Carolina, has worked in the public schools system for eleven years. Since 2006, Ms. Ellerbe has worked as an independent literacy consultant working to improve the writing curriculum across South Carolina. Ms. Ellerbe joins the faculty as a lecturer in Literacy Education.
Dr. Keith Gurley spent the last eight years as an elementary school principal for the Raytown, Missouri School District. Dr. Gurley has also served as an elementary school teacher, elementary principal and assistant superintendent in the Kansas City area. Dr. Gurley joins the faculty as a visiting assistant professor of educational leadership.
Dr. Malvin “Vin” Porter received his Ph.D in Educational Psychology at the University of Alabama where he taught in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Prior to 2003, Dr. Porter was a science teacher in both public and private schools in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Dr. Porter joins the faculty as a lecturer in Educational Psychology.
Dr. Lindsey Pritchard pursued her Master’s degree in Education (M.Ed.) from Southern Wesleyan University, while teaching in an inner city school for two years. After receiving her M.Ed. she transferred and has taught as a part time professor at CCU for the past two years. Dr. Pritchard joins the faculty as a lecturer in Early Childhood Education.
